HintsEdit

  • There are not many hints regarding this ship, however, Ryoma seems to be determined to beat Fuji. He wants to be the bench coach during Fuji's singles 2 match against Hyotei in the Kanto Regionals.
  • During Fuji's singles 2 match against Jiro Akutagawa, he seems to want to show off to Ryoma, and announces his third counter, Hakugei.
  • Fuji praised Ryoma when his triple counter, Higuma Otoshi, was defeated by Ryoma.
  • In episode 40, Fuji is still thinking about their practice match after it is stopped due to the rain. He says, "This thrill...I love it," which is where the ship name comes from.
  • In the TeniPuri special, episode 64, Fuji and Ryoma feel compelled to continue their interrupted practice match multiple times.
  • During the regional finals (anime version), Fuji is hurt during his match with Kirihara Akaya. Ryoma is shown angry. When Fuji plays against Kirihara in the manga, Fuji is furious because Ryoma was the one injured by Kirihara before his match with Fuji.
  • When Fuji plays against Kirihara in the manga, Fuji is furious because Ryoma was the one injured by Kirihara before his match with Fuji.
  • During Tezuka's absence Fuji played a more older brother role to Ryoma (e.g when he allowed him to sleep in the same room together or sit next him in hot springs) has shown much concern to Ryoma much as Tezuka does but only in a sweeter matter.
  • Fuji treats Ryoma like a little brother more than a kohai.
  • In the movie Battle of the British Castle Fuji was first to show his concern (along with Tezuka) when Ryoma nearly faint out of exhaustion after his match with Keith.
  • Coach Ryuzaki also comments during the match that the only person who knows Fuji's real potential is Ryoma.
  • Ryoma once mentioned that he idolizes Fuji. (When somebody said Fuji is really good, he commented to that person "that's why he's my idol.")
  • In episode 115 (TeniPuri special) Atobe thought Fuji was Ryoma's woman.
