First Stringer No. 15[]

Number 15 shouldn't be vacant. Niou didn't return his badge, he just won his shuffle match with Atobe. Since it was a shuffle match shouldn't the person he got the number 10 badge from get his number 15 badge? Shuffle matches mean that they switch places, not get plain kicked out if they're in the same string.

No, actually it says in the manga Niou Masaharu was aa 2nd Stringer when he and Atobe challenged Ochi/Mouri pair. It says Atobe/Niou are 2ndStringers. Which can only mean Niou handed in his badge and nothing else. For example, Tooyama Kintaro who lost to Oni for the No.5 match, was announced as a 2ndStringer and not as the No.14 which means to challenge for a higher place, there is a massive cost since you must hand in your badge which makes the matches all the more serious.

I know what Shuffle matches mean. Ochi would have switched places with Atobe to go into 3rdCourt, but Mouri would have gone to 2ndCourt because Niou was announced as a 2ndStringer.

Number 8 badge[]

Is Marui really the No.8 badge? It was never confirmed was it? I don't think we should have that in just yet as it isn't proven. Marui wasn't stated as the No.8 in the fanbook... This was added in by Rifle1899547.

Well according to whoever wrote it, Tohno threw his badge to Marui. Not sure whether Rifle wrote that. His injury to his knee could end his tennis career. Chinkycandie (talk) 23:29, December 4, 2013 (UTC)

The fanbook actually states that Tono is still the No. 8. Even though he threw the badge, he didn't throw it at Marui. Ikuto was the one that handed it to him. The only way Tono will lose his spot as the No. 8 is when someone finaly defeats him, his injury permanantly disables him, or when he turns 19, which is in about five to six months. Thanks, I had the same thoughts too. Its probably still too soon for Marui Bunta to be No.8 of the nation I guess.

Kintaro[]

Is Kintaro still a 1st stringer? He challenged Oni but lost. I'm asking since he's the only one who challenged someone of a higher number without returning his badge. And because in the match, he was said to be a 2nd stringer. Chinkycandie (talk) 02:58, May 3, 2014 (UTC)

I don't know, but it seems like as soon as a player challenges his spot on the first string line-up is automatically forfeited until he wins. I get the feeling all who lost are going to have to work back up for their spots. ShikiKira (talk) 06:13, May 3, 2014 (UTC)
