Original Prodigy: Fuji Shusuke is the 111th episode of the original Prince of Tennis. It originally aired on the 3rd December 2003.
The genius players, Yūshi Oshitari of Hyotei and Shusuke Fuji of Seigaku, face off while Ryō Shishido faces Oishi. The match between Fuji and Oshitari evolves into a battle of Higuma Otoshi and ends with Fuji overcoming Oshitari's Higuma Otoshi and gaining victory. The second matchs ends as a tie forcing both players to retire from the game.
This episode begins with Momo warning Fuji of how passionate Yuushi is. It seems as though Fuji has nothing to worry about because he begins the match by beating Yuushi in the first game. On the other court the match is between Oishi and Ryo and by the time we see their match Oishi is panting and looks beaten up. Ryo has definitley been improving and Oishi even thinks to his self that its no wonder he broke the Inui -Kaoru pair.
Things begin to heat up on Fuji's court when it is discovered that the match will be a battle of Higuma Otoshi. For a while the score is sketchy with Yuushi continuing with Higuma Otoshi and Fuji trying to break it with smashes. Eventually Fuji learns to overpower the counter with a powerful smash which he achieves by moving his hand higher on the racket. Having more powerful shots is the result of such a difficult training camp.
And on Oishi's court, when all hope is seemed to be lost, Oishi doesn't give up. He continues to perservere because he wants to return Tezukas trust and continue to make it to the Nationals. Ryo sees what a admirable guy Oishi is and decides to stop the game just because they have to remember that it was only a practice match. Both Oishi and Ryo end the episode with new found friendship.
