Junpei Kongawa (昆川 純平, Kongawa Junpei)
Background[]
Kongawa is a manga-only character from rival school Midoriyama in the series Prince of Tennis. He is in his 2nd Year of Middle School like all the other regulars for Midoriyama.
Appearance[]
Konagawa has black hair with a slight parting on his right. He is seen wearing his Midoriyama tennis regular uniform.
Personality[]
He and his Midoriyama teammates are shown to be arrogant as while they were being interviewed by Shiba Saori.
History[]
Regionals[]
Took the Singles 2 spot against Seigaku (which was never played due to Midoriyama losing too early), can play Doubles with his partner being Tsuta.
Nationals[]
Kongawa and Midoriyama are eliminated by Joshuin Dai Fuzoku Shimizu in the first round of the Nationals.
Tennis Record[]
Playing Style & Techniques[]
Like all of the Midoriyama members, Kongawa’s form and ball control is impressive; he participated in an exercise using a metal pole as a replacement for a “wall” for practice, showing that he has confidence in his control and precision. He seems to be mostly a Doubles player and is at least Kanto level, but the team seems to have some confidence in his Singles skills, since he was placed at the Singles 2 spot against Seigaku. His partner is always Tsuta.
Etymology[]
- The name Junpei means "pure, clean, simple" (純) (jun) and "flat, broad, level, even, peaceful" (平) (hei/pei).
- Junpei's surname Kongawa means "descendants, elder brother, insect" (昆) (kon) and "river, stream" (川) (kawa/gawa).
