Chloe Watanabe (クロエ 渡邊, Kuroe Watanabe) is the younger sister of Duke Watanabe.

Appearance[]

Chloe is a cute little girl with long (presumably) blonde hair and light-colored or dark-colored eyes.

Background[]

Like Duke Watanabe, Chloe is half-French and it is unknown whether she moved to Japan with her brother or not.

History[]

2 Years Prior to the Storyline[]

A representative of the French U-17 at the time named Duke Watanabe is taking a walk with Chloe and they seem to be talking about the upcoming WC match against Japan. Chloe then runs off to get some food from a nearby store. Hōō Byōdōin is sitting on a bench near that same store, reading a magazine. The headline says "Roi du destruction" ("King of destruction") and a picture of Duke is shown underneath.

When Chloe finishes buying the food, a part of the store roof suddenly collapses, threatening to crush her. Duke yells a warning at her and runs over, but he's too late. When he arrives at the scene and throws the roof parts out of the way it is revealed that Byodoin protected Chloe from the rubble. Duke is relieved that his sister isn't injured, but before he can talk to her savior, Byodoin walks away.

Chloe is audience to the France vs Japan match. As Byodoin steps onto the court she recognizes him, as does Duke.

Byodoin loses the match and is about to leave the venue when Duke approaches him. Duke announces he will join Japan U-17 and fight alongside him for protecting his sister.

Relationships[]

Duke Watanabe[]

Flashbacks shows that Duke was a kind doting protective older brother to Chloe. He left France U-17 and joined Japan U-17 to fight alongside the person who saved his younger sister.

Hōō Byōdōin[]

Byōdōin is the guy who saved Chloe's life.

Etymology[]

  • The name Chloe means "blooming" or "fertility" in Greek.
    • The word "χλόη" (khlóē), which was one of the many names of the goddess Demeter, refers to the young, green foliage or shoots of plants in spring.
  • Chloe's surname Watanabe means "transit, ford, ferry, cross, import, deliver, diameter, migrate" (渡) (wataru) and "edge, margin, side, border" (邊) (be).

Trivia[]

  • Chloe is the first New Prince of Tennis character to be introduced only in flashbacks.
  • Chloe is the first G-10 sibling introduced.
  • In Chloe's initial introduction, she is half the height of Duke Watanabe.
