Glowing Shot in the Anime
Destruction is a powerful move initially used by Byōdōin Hōō. It is so powerful it was capable of knocking out Tokugawa and causing a wall behind him to crack. Despite its destructive properties, Ryoga was capable of returning it with ease. The glowing acts like a modifier that makes it more powerful and amplifies the attributes of the base shot.
The strength of the Destruction shot comes from extremely precise control and power. The player must be skilled enough to hit the ball at the "Super Sweet Spot," which, while named as a "Spot," is more accurate to describe it as a "point." This "point" lies at a single place at the racquet's Sweet Spot's center, which is intersected by just 2 strings. Failure to hit the ball directly from the Super Sweet Spot will result in this move failing.
Ryoga teaches this move to Ryoma after revealing the move to Ryoma and Jin Akutsu. Whilst Tokugawa is first shown using this technique against Byōdōin.
Ryoga reveals that if one is hit in the gut with the Destruction, it messes up their internal organs.
